Privacy Policy

Last updated: 13 September 2026

This policy explains what personal data Mortgage Brokers List handles, why, how long we keep it and what rights you have under the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. It covers people who visit the site, people who email us, and people connected with the firms we list.

Who we are

Mortgage Brokers List (mortgagebrokerslist.co.uk) is the controller of the personal data described here. We are a directory, not a mortgage broker, lender or regulated adviser. For anything about your data, email contact@mortgagebrokerslist.co.uk.

If you visit the site

There are no accounts, forms, comments or reviews, and the calculators run entirely in your browser: the numbers you type are never sent to us. We don't use analytics or advertising.

The site is hosted and protected by Cloudflare, which processes technical data about each request, such as IP address, browser details, the page requested and the time, to deliver pages and defend the site against attacks and abusive traffic. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in running a secure website. We don't keep our own copy of these logs or combine them with anything else; Cloudflare keeps them for the periods set out in its privacy policy.

Cookies

We don't set cookies. Cloudflare may set a small number of security cookies, used only to tell people from automated traffic. These are strictly necessary to protect the site, so they don't need consent. If we ever add analytics or other optional cookies, we'll ask for your consent first and update this page.

If you email us

We use your name, email address and what you write to reply, to act on corrections, removals and data protection requests, and to keep a record of what we did. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in answering you and, for data protection requests, our legal obligation to respond. Mail to our address is forwarded by Cloudflare Email Routing to the inbox we use to read and reply to it. We keep messages for up to 24 months after the last reply and then delete them, unless we need a record of a removal or data protection request for longer to show we complied.

If you are connected with a firm we list

Most of what we publish is about companies, not people. Some of it can still identify an individual, for example a registered office that is someone's home, a company named after its director, or a mobile number that belongs to one person. We treat that information as personal data.

Why and on what basis: to help people find and contact firms that publicly advertise mortgage services. Our lawful basis is legitimate interests. We think it is fair because we only use details a firm has chosen to publish for customers to contact it, in the same business context, we don't use them to market anything to the firm or its staff, we don't sell them, and removal is simple.

How long: for as long as the firm is listed. We re-check websites at least once every 12 months. When a firm asks to be removed, or no longer meets our listing rules, we take its profile and published contact details down and delete the details we collected from its website within 30 days. Companies House's own record of the company is public and isn't affected.

Your right to object: if you're connected with a listed firm and don't want details that relate to you shown, email us and we'll remove them. Because we can't practically contact everyone connected with the firms we list, this page is how we tell you about this processing.

Who we share data with

We don't sell personal data or pass enquiries to firms. Cloudflare acts as our processor for hosting, security and email forwarding, and our email provider holds the messages you send us. Where these providers process data outside the UK, they do so under their data processing terms with us.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of your personal data, and to correct it, delete it, restrict how we use it, or object to our using it. Email contact@mortgagebrokerslist.co.uk. We may ask you to confirm who you are, and we'll reply within one month. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.

Children

The site is for adults researching mortgages. We don't knowingly collect children's personal data.

Changes

If we change this policy we'll update the date at the top and describe any significant change here.
